During the spring and early summer of 2019, as graduation ceremonies kick off nationwide, a new generation of job seekers will be entering the workforce for the very first time.

These recent and soon-to-be graduates are members of Generation Z, and their career-preparation and job-seeking behaviors will affect the strategies and tactics of talent acquisition leaders for years to come.

The 2019 Yello Recruiting Study surveys hundreds of candidates to compare Generation Z, Millennials and Generation X.

This report finds:

  • Candidates across all generations are aware of today’s tight labor market—60% plan to use the strong economy to their advantage during salary negotiations.
  • More than half of Generation Z candidates won’t even submit an application if they think the company’s recruiting methods are outdated.
  • The majority of job seekers (81%) expect the hiring process to wrap up in two weeks, tops.
