Name: Adam Godson
Your current role/title: Senior Vice President, Global Technology Solutions at Cielo
Favorite place you’ve traveled (or would like to): I took a few days in Denmark last year which I very much enjoyed. Everyone was happy and friendly.
Fun fact about you people may not know: Early in my career, I worked in HR during the day and was an EMT and firefighter at night. Now I’m a corporate firefighter by day.
Tell us about your background and what led you to your current role.
I’ve been in recruiting my entire career and always leaned into the technology aspects of sourcing and applicant tracking systems. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow the technology function at Cielo and build a team that focuses on using technology to disrupt the recruiting space with better results.
If you had to pick one piece of advice to give to recruitment/talent acquisition professionals, what would it be?
Embrace change.
What inspires you about your work?
There’s often a lot of scale or depth in recruiting work. Changes we make can make impact thousands of people every day. Even in working individually with candidates, we can make a big impact in someone’s life.
What is a professional goal you STRIVE to achieve?
Honestly, my goal is about reducing friction between people and the right job fit. Most people spend a lot of time at work and having a job that is the right fit is a way to improve a person’s overall quality of life. That’s honestly why I love the recruiting industry – if we do it right, we have a huge opportunity to create good in the world.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing talent acquisition/recruitment?
There’s a massive challenge with broken processes and systems that were designed for the benefit of the company, not candidates. As we turn that lens toward candidate-centered design, we have a huge opportunity to improve outcomes for companies and candidates.
